And Sony gave its answer sooner than I expected.

I’ve been given a link to a Yahoo! news about Sony announcing that there will be a slim version of Play Station 3 on Germany, during a gaming convention this Tuesday. It will be called Play Station Slim, and it’s scheduled for release in NA and EU on the first day of September this year. Hey, that’s just two weeks away! XD

What’s even better is that it’s going to be sold at a lower price than its predecessor at only $299 (around 14,000-15,000 Php). Judging from its shipping fees and all that, it would probably sell at around 20,000 Php once it hits our local stores. What makes it even better is that its performance is boosted, like they said, “33% smaller and 36% lighter. It’s also greener, using 34% less power.” And with a 120GB hard drive, what more can you ask for? :3

Fido Right now I’m thinking of changing my pasalubong list to getting PS Slim early this year, though that would compromise my chances of getting an iPhone 3G cheap. Weighing my chances, I would most likely ditch the iPhone idea and ask for a unit this September. Hopefully, Sony will have a big stock of it on its first day. >_<

Good thing though [...]]]> I know, I’ve never laid my hands on a PS2 for almost five years [the first one belongs to my cousin, but he broke his console a few months after]. The last games I played were Harvest Moon II and Final Fantasy X. And I never religiously played any PS2 game ever since.

Good thing though my dad was *generous* enough to buy my sister her own PS2 [actually it’s supposedly a PS3, but considering there are only a few good games under its sleeves, she bought the older one instead]. It’s colored red, unlike the conventional consoles released in the market earlier. Although my dad gave it to her as a birthday present, I was playing it for most of the time [LOL! Ebul meh!], and one of which I’m currently playing is Final Fantasy XII.

FFXII introduces an MMORPG-style of gameplay, wherein the maps are divided into zones and you battle with enemies in real time, unlike the previous Final Fantasy titles with randomized monster battles. The game also has an automatic fighting system called “gambits.” Using this feature enables you to customize your battle preferences for each character on specified conditions, making the game more flexible. Aside from those, there is also a license board [similar to FFX’s sphere grid], which serves as the skill tree of each character. The mist feature is also integrated in the game, and is being used to summon Espers, and use powerful techniques called Quickenings [the game’s own version of a “Limit Break”]. It’s a totally new experience, especially for someone outdated like me [LOL]. I can even level my party by just moving around, thanks to the gambits. The weapons and defensive equipment can be used with every character, as long as they have the correct license for it.

I haven’t finished the game yet, so I don’t have anything to say except that I’m not entirely moved by the story just yet. I think I’m only halfway the game, and the development among the main cast has just started.

I’m spending about 4-6 hours a day finishing the game [I still have an IELTS review, mind you], but I’m hoping to get this through in less than a month before moving on to another outdated PS2 game. )
